Beaches Watch will host its annual Beaches Police Panel at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at the Beaches Branch Public Library, 600 Third St., Neptune Beach. The meeting is open to the public. Attendees should use the north library entrance; the south, or main, entrance will be locked.
Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith, Neptune Beach Police Chief Michael Key and Atlantic Beach Police Chief Vic Gualillo will share updates on local public safety. Topics are expected to include successes and challenges from the past year, crime statistics and trends, updates on large events such as the Fourth of July and Memorial Day, staffing, department needs and more.
"It's always great to hear directly from our police departments so citizens are informed about our local public safety issues and the great work being done by our men and women in blue," said Beaches Watch President Maria Mark. "Especially after July Fourth, when our departments have to work extra hours to ensure our communities remain safe, this meeting is also an opportunity for our citizens to thank our women and men in blue for their service and sacrifices."
Beaches Watch was established in 2004 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan civic organization that promotes citizen involvement in local and state government decisions affecting quality of life in the Beaches communities. The organization holds monthly meetings, candidate forums for area elections and special community programs.
