We're mid-September, folks, and the days are getting shorter. We also got paid a visit by our first little bit of northeast breeze, always a harbinger of the changing seasons. The cool season in Florida is always so delightful because it's a lot like summer in places such as the Mountain West, Canada and other spots that are absolutely freezing in wintertime. Or so I've heard, since I've never been anywhere that actually gets cold in winter. But I digress. It's a beautiful time of year to enjoy all that Florida has to offer outdoors, with cool temperatures and low humidity. Here are a few things catching my eye for the upcoming week.
Jacksonville Beach
Green Room Market at Green Room Brewing (Jacksonville Beach): Friday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. Shop local artisan goods, sweet treats and handmade crafts from regional makers in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.
Miles That Matter 5K at Seawalk Pavilion (Jacksonville Beach): Saturday, Sept. 19, at 9 a.m. An inaugural beachside run and walk organized by Momentum Fit to benefit the Betty Griffin Center, welcoming all ages and fitness levels.
Beaches Museum Chapel Concert (Jacksonville Beach): Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. Enjoy an intimate live performance by singer-songwriter Patrick Hagerman and a full band, supporting the Beaches Museum.
Beach Legends 2026 Gala (Jacksonville Beach): Friday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Beaches Museum. This is the museum's signature annual fundraiser and biggest cultural event of the season, honoring prominent figures who have shaped the history of the Jacksonville Beach and Neptune Beach communities, such as longtime local educator and lifeguard Bill Longenecker.
Neptune Beach
Enjoy live music at Brewhound Dog Park on Sept. 20. Brian Ernst plays from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Neptune Beach Farmers Market takes place Sunday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Neptune Beach Elementary School, 1515 Florida Blvd. This family-friendly community market features more than 75 vendors selling fresh produce, artisan baked goods, local honey and handmade crafts. The venue includes an on-site playground, plenty of shade and a free community yoga class from 9 to 10 a.m., right before the market opens.
Atlantic Beach
Sean Burns performs live at The Back Bar at Be-In in Atlantic Beach on Saturday, Sept. 19, starting at 6 p.m.
Mayport Brewery hosts "Name That Tune" Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. A highly interactive music trivia night hosted by DeAndre Comedy, great for groups and local music fans.
