I recently participated in the Hammerhead Ocean Marathon, which I found out about while researching for this weekly list of interesting things to do. It was a wonderful event full of good people that is now in its 3rd decade, and one that I’ve never heard of before. It was a delightful reminder that our coastal corner of the country has such abundance of activities that one could spend a lifetime here and not know them all…and that’s a great problem to have.

Theatre in the Park: The Shakespearean Games Saturday, August 29 & Sunday, August 30 at 6:00 PM at Johansen Park, 1300 Seminole Rd.
“A live, interactive mashup of Shakespeare's greatest scenes and improv-style competition.” Professional actors square off using audience suggestions for a fast, funny, and entirely kid-friendly night. Admission is free; food trucks will be parked on-site. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

August 28 (Friday, 8:00 PM): Los Angeles Americana rock band Dauzat St. Marie will be performing at the Blue Jay Listening Room. This follows their tour with Sammy Hagar and Tiffany. Doors open at 7:20 PM and the show starts at 8 PM. –– Facebook Events.
