As the beaches prepare for the Fourth of July weekend, the Beaches Veterans Memorial Park has launched a new website, www.BVMPFL.org. The new site gives the community an updated way to learn about the memorial’s history, honor local veterans and support the nonprofit’s mission.

The park, located at 1 West 1st Street in Atlantic Beach, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to honoring the Beaches’ fallen wartime heroes from Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Mayport.

The site includes a collection of photos and information on local fallen veterans compiled by the park’s historian, information on the Signs of Honor program, which allows residents to install signs remembering those lost in war, and details on the Bricks of Honor program, which places personalized engraved bricks along the park’s Walk of Honor leading to its American flag.

Bricks can be ordered online in batches of up to 10, with each brick allowing up to three lines of engraving at 25 characters per line. The bricks are tax deductible and carry a lifetime warranty. See the website for more details.

Organizers said the new site preserves much of the historical content from the memorial’s previous website and are asking the community to explore it and share feedback as it continues to develop.

Clarence Hill, the park’s president and a past national commander of the American Legion, leads the park’s board, which also includes representatives from American Legion Posts 129 and 316, VFW Post 3270, the Fleet Reserve Association and the Naval Order of the United States.
